[In the beauty salon, Ambition is waiting. They are perusing a selection of makeup along the wall as Rachel walks in, but they look over as she enters.
The flowers she picked are in a small glass vase filled with water. Ambition looks toward them and sighs.]
I was really looking forward to seeing what you were going to give me, but then that ridiculous rule went and ruined everything. Ugh.
Play this right and you won't have to. Someone else can deal with all that dying stuff - as my follower, I decree that you have to stay alive.
[fat lot of good that decree will do when people start killing off seconds though]
The people who do kick the bucket early won't leave right away. We have to keep them around so that anyone who died following the winner can still get rewarded, after all.
[if the gods knew what they were doing, they probably would have been able to decide things on their own and nobody would have been dragged here for murder...]
Do you mean how we picked all of you to come here, or how we decided which of you to get to try and choose us in your dream?
Well... we're gods, after all. Looking into other worlds is easy. We saw interesting people, made a bunch of offers, and you guys are the ones who accepted.
[Consciously or unconsciously, but it happened.]
We all had ideas about who we wanted for our teams right away. We started arguing about that, too, and when more than three of us wanted the same person, we had to draw lots. [It's not possible to see behind the mask, but Ambition is wrinkling their nose.] Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous! ...but nothing's stopping us from trying to recruit the people we wanted before now, though.
Love is one of those ridiculous goody-two-shoes types.
[Ambition huffs.]
Once people start dying - and they will, because have you seen Ruin? Ugh, completely bloodthirsty - people are going to realize they need to follow a god who will let them do something.
It's just unfortunate that the naming convention gives some of you an advantage over the other. I, personally, think ambition is an amazing quality but I know others will disagree.
I'd much rather just keep people like you around. But we have to win, so... I guess we can play nice with them for a little while. If they help us get what we want, it's worth it.
Right now? No... but keep an eye out for people who we might be able to convince to defect. If you give me a name and they actually do choose me, I'll reward you for it.
[Ambition makes a motion as if to toss hair over their shoulder, and then realizes a moment later that there's no hair to do that with because it's all under their hood. Ugh.]
WEEK 1
The flowers she picked are in a small glass vase filled with water. Ambition looks toward them and sighs.]
I was really looking forward to seeing what you were going to give me, but then that ridiculous rule went and ruined everything. Ugh.
no subject
[ she also sighs. ]
It's good to meet you though! I'm Rachel.
no subject
[Ambition sounds unimpressed.]
I know who you are. So, what - did you pray to me because you have questions?
no subject
no subject
[It's said very bluntly.]
There's no avoiding it. We can bring everyone back at the end, so I wouldn't really call it killing. It's not like anyone will stay dead.
no subject
So it's basically just a very dramatic version of not making it to the next stage of auditions?
no subject
[i hate this]
no subject
[ that's very low on her list of things she wants to accomplish at a young age. ]
What happens to them after they're, um, kicked out of the competition? Are they sent straight home?
no subject
[fat lot of good that decree will do when people start killing off seconds though]
The people who do kick the bucket early won't leave right away. We have to keep them around so that anyone who died following the winner can still get rewarded, after all.
no subject
[ if she had a pen she'd be writing this down.
it's probably good she does not have a pen. ]
Have you done this kind of competition before? Or is this a first run?
no subject
[sorry you guys got dragged in here to make decisions for a bunch of newbie gods.]
no subject
[ it'll be easier if the gods knew what they were doing but oh well. ]
How did you decide on the people you reached out to anyway? I saw that you had a few followers under your name.
no subject
Do you mean how we picked all of you to come here, or how we decided which of you to get to try and choose us in your dream?
no subject
[ it was the latter but now she wants to know the other one too. ]
no subject
[Consciously or unconsciously, but it happened.]
We all had ideas about who we wanted for our teams right away. We started arguing about that, too, and when more than three of us wanted the same person, we had to draw lots. [It's not possible to see behind the mask, but Ambition is wrinkling their nose.] Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous! ...but nothing's stopping us from trying to recruit the people we wanted before now, though.
no subject
[ listen she's still not crazy about murder but
everything else sounds very legit ]
The contest is supposed to end at six weeks, right?
no subject
[it might go on longer depending on what you all get up to but that's an ooc thing]
no subject
That's not too bad, I guess...
[ at least it's not longer. ]
Does anything happen if you guys don't have any followers?
no subject
Why? Are you planning on getting rid of some of the other gods' followers for me?
no subject
no subject
[by like.. bribery]
no subject
no subject
[Ambition doesn't sound quite as sure of this as they've sounded about other things, but... they sound sure enough.]
no subject
[ rachel gets why would. who wouldn't want to choose something as nice sounding as love? ]
no subject
I don't expect that to last for very long.
no subject
Really? Why?
no subject
[Ambition huffs.]
Once people start dying - and they will, because have you seen Ruin? Ugh, completely bloodthirsty - people are going to realize they need to follow a god who will let them do something.
no subject
Oh... I guess people will probably be frustrated. But that might take a while depending on how that goes.
no subject
People will realize that eventually.
no subject
no subject
[Ambition does not mince words, apparently.]
no subject
[ it is going to be so easy to figure out who rachel's god is if anyone ever has to guess ]
But you need those idiots.
no subject
I hate needing those idiots.
[but, alas, it's true]
I'd much rather just keep people like you around. But we have to win, so... I guess we can play nice with them for a little while. If they help us get what we want, it's worth it.
no subject
Well then! Is there anything you need me to do?
no subject
no subject
[ she's good at annoying people until she gets what she wants ]
no subject
no subject
no subject
We'll both get what we want out of this.
no subject
We most certainly will.
no subject
no subject
If I make any other progress I'll let you know.
no subject
[
at least it sounds like ambition believes she will make progress??]
