You kinda have to thanks to King Moron's new rule. [Thanks Indulgence. Cunning folds his arms over his chest and thinks about it.] How much do you need?
If there is, I'm not going to have time to dig for it. Chemicals aren't exactly my area of expertise.
[He debates something for a long moment before lightly nodding his head.]
Just thinking ahead. If I have to use one of these, the chance I'll get figured out by construction alone isn't out of the question. I can plan a setup, but I'll need to keep the nosy ones out of the workspaces and bookshelves to fill in the gaps.
Anyone can access the fontech manuals. Hell, I'm probably the only one here that can operate any of the Auldrant machinery WITHOUT a manual. So planting relevant pages from any of them could be an option for turning people around if it gets to an investigation.
It's risky. I'm the only one around here that openly cares about it. [does he sound bitter he might be because newt was a JERK ABOUT IT] But that gives me enough leverage to make it look like I was set up, so long as I'm careful about it.
I just can't risk someone going into the lab and double checking anything. My workspace, styles of other people's projects, what manuals are missing things... Burning it all down seems to be the easiest way to deal with that much paper all at once. If I can cause some chaos with everyone else's stations, make it hard to tell who exactly was missing things, then that's just a bonus.
No wonder you switched to me. [GUY.] Makes enough sense, also throws off your own trail since I'm pretty sure you're from a place gasoline doesn't exist if the other guy's whole "what's chlorine" thing wasn't a huge indicator.
[Luke. He means Luke.]
I can definitely get you what you need. You're responsible for ditching the evidence if you're doing something with it. But that means you need to do a favor in exchange. [A tilt of his head.] Do you know any of the others who're aligned with me right now?
Luke has his reasons for not knowing stuff like that anyway.
But no, chlorine and gasoline aren't things we have. Chemicals exist, just mostly as by-products rather than anything of use outside major scientific use. From what I've read on combustion and how motors work for most others around here, though, it just looks like a difference in the different types of fuel our worlds are used to. We have oils for the sake of lubrication and safety. But for actual use? Instead of gasoline and a spark to ignite a fire, we just use the Fifth Fonon. It causes the same reaction.
There's still fonons available around here. But I'm already risking too much getting fontech involved as it is. If I can do an option anyone else can feasibly do as well, that should work better for me.
[...that was more of a fontech rant than he wanted but whatever, moving on...
He shakes his head.]
No, I don't. I know a couple who had planned on aligning at one point or another, but no one who stuck with you. Not outside some of the deceased, anyway.
[…] I have no idea what any of that means, Guy, but I'll take your word for it. It's not like our sources where I'm from are totally normal either. Leave the fontech out of it, it'll just trace back to you a last faster like you said.
Normally this is the kind of favor I'd need security on. A buy-in. You guarantee me somebody will swap back to me and secure my numbers, gasoline's yours. But since this is a "maybe" case and may not be relevant just yet…fight me.
[What.] Go sword to sword with me. I need a sparring partner anyway and it's faster. [And goes around what Indulgence's rule means, but whatever.]

[Oddly specific.]

Mind tellin' me what you're doing?
